Tabatha Coffey on Dr.Oz                                   Tabatha Coffey talks about Viviscal Extra Strength on a recent appearance on Dr.Oz

Our celebrity spokesperson Tabatha Coffey recently did an interiew where she was asked about hair loss and her partnership with the Viviscal brand. For those of you who missed it, here are some of the answers she gave.

Q.  Should men and women consider their hair health?

A.  Believe it or not, my hair hasn’t always been healthy.  Hair loss and thinning is much more common than people think; over 60 million Americans suffer from it—both men and women!  Thankfully, I’ve been able to overcome the problem myself; the key is diligence.

Q.  Why do you think Americans are reluctant to talk about hair loss and thinning?

A.  Hair loss and thinning is a taboo issue that needs to be discussed more openly.  Let’s face it; no one wants to openly admit that they’re losing their hair or have hair challenges.  It’s a secretive issue, and so many are embarrassed by it.  Until the issue becomes more mainstream, Americans will continue to shy away from discussing it.  That’s why I’ve partnered with Viviscal natural supplements—to help restore confidence and healthy hair!

Q.  What is the number one concern you’ve heard from female clients?

A.  Part of a hairdresser’s job is being a little bit of a therapist, so I’ve heard a lot about personal struggles with hair loss.  Many of my female clients express that they feel all alone.  Since hair loss and thinning isn’t readily discussed in the public’s eye, it’s easy to believe the problem is uncommon and something to be ashamed of.  I have to reassure them that there are millions of others in the same boat, including models, celebrities, and even me.

Q.  Is hair loss and thinning a growing trend?

A.  Unfortunately, yes.  High stress lifestyles, fast-paced routines, poor diet choices and over-styling are all to blame.  Increasingly, hair loss and thinning is becoming an issue among men and women in their 20’s and 30’s.

Q.  What can consumers do to protect their hair health?

A.  Changing your lifestyle can help to alleviate stressors that cause hair loss and thinning.  Adding yoga, meditation, or exercise to your daily routine is a step in the right direction.  Also, definitely incorporate more fruits and vegetables, fish protein, iron, and vitamin B into your diet.  These foods promote hair growth and health.

Q. Should consumers actively talk to their hair stylist about their hair health?

A. Absolutely! Your hair stylist is a great source of information and a trusted confidant. They can share tips for hiding any problem areas and recommend products to help, such as taking Viviscal.

Q.  Earlier you mentioned that your hair hasn’t always been as healthy as it is right now.  Can you tell us more?

A.  When I lost my mother last year, I can honestly say it was the hardest thing that’s ever happened to me.  It was a painful experience that filled my life with a lot of sadness and stress.  As a result of everything I was going through, I suffered from severe hair loss.  I’ve always had thin hair, but never anything so extreme.  Since then, I’ve started to use Viviscal natural supplements and have witnessed radical results!

Q.  Tell us more about your experience using Viviscal?

A.  I can’t believe how well the product’s transformed the look and feel of my hair!  Plus, it really speeds up the hair growth process.  The results I’ve experienced have allowed me to regain confidence in my hair and appearance.  I’m excited to partner with Viviscal to help other women experience the same success that I’ve had.

Q.  Aside from the success you’ve had using Viviscal, are there any other reasons you recommend the product?

A.  I love the fact that Viviscal is all natural, safe, and chemical-free.  I can rest assured there won’t be any negative side effects, unlike with many other products for thinning hair!  The supplements also contain the exclusive AminoMar C Complex, a key to successful hair growth and nourishment.  AminoMar C is filled with rich, essential nutrients from fish protein that are scientifically proven to strengthen and replenish hair.  Believe me, it works!

Q.  Do you recommend the supplements to your clients?

A. Yes; I often recommend Viviscal to clients who are experiencing significant hair loss and hair thinning.

Q. Where can women go to learn more Viviscal or purchase the supplements?

A.  You can purchase the supplements and learn more information online by visiting www.viviscal.com.  Viviscal is also available nationwide at Rite-Aid, Walgreens and Ulta stores.

Q.  Will you keep us posted on your experience with Viviscal?

A.  Absolutely!  I will be posting about my personal experiences with Viviscal and sharing other information to help change attitudes about hair loss and hair thinning on my Twitter http://twitter.com/#!/tabathacoffey and Facebookhttp://www.facebook.com/pages/Tabatha-Coffey/.

Lifes2Good Logo

Lifes2good was formed in Ireland as Irish Response Limited in 1997 to distribute mainly health & beauty products. Over the next number of years the company focused on growth in the Irish market and signed up national celebrities such as golfer Christy O’Connor Jnr. to be the face of brands such as our Magnetic Therapy range.

Our expansion initially took us to the UK where we acquired Pharmavita in London as a means of breaking into the market. In 2003, we rebranded as Lifes2good and our original thinning hair food supplement was launched in our existing markets.

2008 marked a significant point in the company’s history as we completed the acquisition of the world renowned thinning hair supplement Viviscal. This product was voted in the Top 10 of the Best Women’s Health Products’ in the Irish Daily Mail, May 2008.

Lifes2good then opened our French office in 2009, as well as moving into the Swedish, Korean, German and Estonian markets that same year. In the US, Viviscal was launched into New York based pharmacy chain Duane Reade.

Emmy Award-Winning Actress, Finola Hughes, signed on as the spokesperson for Viviscal’s US operation and a pilot study is conducted showing a 46% reduction in patients hair loss over a ten week period.  Viviscal is now available through Rite-Aid.

2011 saw the reach of Lifes2good spread even further, with increased focus on the Middle Eastern and Asian markets. In France, our Viviscal brand was recognized with the prestigious Victoire De La Beaute award.

Victoire De La Beaute Award

In the US, we received endorsements from movie stars like Reese Witherspoon and models Jessica Stam. The product launched in Ulta stores nationwide and we started to work with product ambassadors Martino Cartier, Tabatha Coffey and Dr.Doris Day.

Lifes2good also started a clinical trial on Viviscal which is the first of its kind. This clinical trial is on one hundred women in the US and the results will be published in March 2012.

So far, 2012 has started well for Viviscal with the news that we can start full distribution into Canada. We also received fantastic coverage on the Dr. Oz with Tabatha Coffey. In the US, Viviscal also launched with Walgreens and is due to start in CVS in March.

This is all just a sign of exciting things to come for the company!

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron's locks are swept into a soft chignon for an asymmetrical, unstructured look. (Kirk McKoy / Los Angeles Times / January 15, 2012)

For red carpet appearances, celebrity hairstyles usually play a secondary role; it's the gowns that get all the attention. But sometimes a coiffeur has enough oomph to command headlines. At last week's Golden Globes award show, a number of stars posed for the cameras with memorable looks that ranged from "Great Gatsby" to '60s-inspired Bond girl. And it's a safe bet the trend in high-impact hair will continue at the upcoming Screen Actors Guild Awards, Grammy Awards and Academy Awards.

Here is a breakdown of some of the Golden Globes red carpet's best hairstyles and tips from the artists who created and executed them.

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron upheld her reputation for being one of Hollywood's most striking red carpet stars. Her blush-colored Dior couture gown had a floaty quality with some added sex appeal seen in the slit that exposed her legs.

Enzo Angileri styled her hair with soft, side-swept waves, pulled into an easy chignon.

"I wanted her hair to have a casual feeling, almost as if she had pulled it together herself," Angileri says. He describes the style as modern, asymmetrical and just a little messy — something he devised to offset the dramatic diamond Cartier headband Theron wore in her hair.

The hairstylist started with dry hair, curling small sections with a 2-inch barrel curling iron to enhance natural volume and texture. He then sprayed a light mist of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray and brushed through the curls with a Moroccanoil Ionic Ceramic paddle brush to create texture and eliminate any trace of separation between curls.

Angileri swept the actress' hair to the left and made three sections, pulling and rolling two of them into a loose bun and pinning them with bobby pins. The third section of hair was wrapped around the bun. Finally, Angileri adjusted and freed strands so the result looked unstructured and wispy. To control fly-away hair he spritzed with Moroccanoil Frizz Control.
